LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a woman arrested on suspicion of threatening to shoot up Los Angeles Valley College is a former student.
Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker says someone called deputies at the campus at around 9 a.m. to report overhearing the threat. He says about 700 students were evacuated and deputies began searching the San Fernando Valley campus.
Parker says about 90 minutes later, detectives arrested a 21-year-old woman at her apartment in the Panorama City area of Los Angeles. Authorities planned to search the home for weapons.
Her name wasn't released but Parker says she attended classes in the fall session.
The school remained closed in early afternoon but planned to reopen for evening classes, which are having final exams.
