Four Morro Bay Pirates and one San Luis Obispo Tiger have been selected to suit up for the third annual FCA All-Star Football Classic on Tuesday. The third annual game is Saturday, June 1 at Lompoc High School.
The game pits the top seniors from San Luis Obispo County schools on the North Team against the best from Northern Santa Barbara County schools on the South Team.
Morro Bay will be represented by lineman Keinneth Tagalicud, tight end Zach Barkas, fullback/linebacker Kaine Davis and quarterback Jordan Bray. San Luis Obispo lineman Jack Milstaedt will also line up for SLO County.
"I'm really excited. I've waited two years for this, ever since the start of FCA All-Star game. It will be really fun," said Bray, who threw for 705 yards and 4 touchdowns, while he also rushed for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Pirates. Morro Bay went 8-4 last season and finished second in the Los Padres League.
Davis recorded 100 tackles, while Barkas caught 4 passes for 79 yards. Tagalicud registered 41 tackles and helped anchor the offensive line that allowed the Pirates to average 301 rushing yards per game.
"I know there's a lot of talent down south but I'm hoping we can put together a team that's going to rival them. Hopefully we'll be able to get the win for North County," said Milstaedt. The 5-6, 175 pound lineman registered 42 tackles, 4 tackles for lost yardage and forced one fumble for the Tigers.
The announcement was made at Rancho Grande Motors in San Luis Obispo. "We were very grateful for the opportunity last year to give away an automobile here at Rancho Grande Hyundai and we're looking forward to doing it again," said Chris Wallace, Sales Manager at Rancho Grande.
Rancho Grande donated $2,500 toward the $20,000 car raffle prize that will be given away at the game. Raffle and game tickets are now on sale at the fifteen participating schools. In the previous two years, the game has raised more than $280,000 for the local athletic departments.
