The third annual FCA All-Star Football Classis is one week from this Saturday. KSBY Sports officially crowned four Santa Ynez High Pirates as All-Stars on Friday. The four Pirates will line up with the Northern Santa Barbara County team.
They include running back Alec Hanna, lineman Matt Levesque, defensive back Taylor Zaragoza and All-Los Padres League First Team safety Spencer Armenta.
For Levesque, the game is a long time coming. "I've been in football a long time and I always wanted to be a part of one of those All-Star games. As a little kid I would look up to the guys who were playing in those. I'm glad to be a part of it," said Levesque, a 5-10, 235 pound offensive lineman.
"It's going to be really fun playing as family with teams that you played against during season. So it's going to be kind of weird coming together as a group with your enemies," added Hanna, who caught 20 passes for 205 yards and 1 touchdown last season.
"We give back to the high school. We give back to the valley. It's great for everybody," said Jim Vreeland, Jr., the general manager of Jim Vreeland Ford. The Buellton car dealership donated $2,500 toward the car raffle prize.
Kickoff is at 7 pm next Saturday, June 1 at Lompoc High School. Northern Santa Barbara County leads the all-time series 2-0.
