French Hospital earns "Gold Seal of Approval"

French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.

The Joint Commission calls itself is a health care standards-setting organization.

It sends specially trained investigators to hospitals, nursing homes and other health care organizations to assess whether they are meeting "prescribed and stringent standards."

"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," said Mark Pelletier, R.N., M.S., Executive Director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that French Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."

French Hospital earned the Gold Seal of Approval after an on-site survey in April.
