FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - The Fresno County sheriff has identified the homicide detective killed in a shootout while serving a search warrant at a mobile home park.

Sheriff Margaret Mims says 49-year-old Joel Wahlenmaier was a 12-year veteran of the force and a husband and father of two.

Wahlenmaier was with another deputy and a fire department arson investigator when the suspect in their case opened fire Thursday morning from his mobile home 25 miles west of Fresno. The suspect, who has not been identified, also was killed.

Deputy Mark Harris was wounded and is recovering.

Officer Javier Bejar, who was patrolling in the nearby town of Reedley, also was critically wounded when he arrived for backup. Authorities say he's not expected to recover.
