SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Another week of high school football is complete across the central coast and here are the Week 3 Friday Night Highlight award winners:Player of the Week -
Player of the Week - Lompoc's Ainuu Taua
Taua is widely considered the top high school football player on the Central Coast and he proved it once more in Week 3. The Braves senior finished with five sacks and added three forced fumbles in Lompoc's 44-21 victory over Dos Pueblos. Taua, who also plays fullback and punts for the Braves, has proven the central part of Lompoc's dominant defense. The Braves are 3-1 and travel to Morro Bay on Friday night.
Play of the Week - Morro Bay's Tristan Collins
Early in the 3rd quarter, Collins took a screen pass from Dan Beavers on 3rd and 24 and maneuvared through numerous San Luis Obispo defenders en route to a 54 yard gain. The play led to a Beavers one-yard touchdown run and sent the Pirates on their way to an upset of previously unbeaten SLO 40-14. Collins, who was the FNH Week 2 player of the week, finished with over 200 yards of total offense and a TD in the victory.
