The fraternity brother of a missing Cal Poly student is spreading awareness locally to help find him.
20 year old Brett Olson was last seen on Sunday about ten miles from Chico at the take out point of a float trip on the Sacramento River.
Olson is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Cal Poly.
High school friend and current fraternity brother Thomas Maher passed out flyers along with 30 others Thursday in San Luis Obispo.
Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong sent an email to Cal Poly students Thursday urging them to help find the Theatre Arts major.
Armstrong encourages students to join the Facebook group "lets bring brett home," which already has 70,000 followers.
"Brett's just the type of guy thats always going to put a smile on your face, he's a great kid he would be out here in a heartbeat for any one of us of course we are going to be out here posting up flyers on businesses just trying to do our part to help him," said Maher.
Searchers in Butte and Glenn County wrapped up covering the river and nearby wilderness areas on Thursday. Now they're focusing on the roads leading to Chico from the river.
If you would like to help raise money for Brett's search effort head to California Pizza Kitchen in San Luis Obispo this Saturday.
