Friends of the Jack House organization launches, welcomes new members

There is a new organization in San Luis Obispo that is dedicated to preserving the famous Jack House and Gardens, and they're looking for members. The Friends of the Jack House group hosted its launch event Sunday afternoon. The organization was created to preserve the historic house and educate the public on its history. On Sunday, they made a special presentation of "The Jack House: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." Guests were introduced to the organization's first board as well. "This organization can become very viable and be a really big help here. There's been a steering committee that's been meeting for six months to get everything together and write bylaws and get us established with the foundation," said Bob Gordon, a member of the City Jack House Committee. The Jack House was built in the 1880's. The Jack family gave it to the city after one of their sons passed away. Until now, the City Jack House Committee was completely responsible for overseeing the house. The entire public is invited to become a member of Friends of the Jack House. If you're interested in becoming a member, email Bob Gordon at sloflwrs4u@aol.com.
