Friends of the Library looks to remodel Morro Bay Library

The Morro Bay Friends of the Library are raising more than $500,000 to remodel the Morro Bay Library. Right now, the building has two large rooms and a common area. The remodel will create one large, central area. This will increase the interior space by about 30 percent. It will also allow for more shelf space and more access to books. "The library is a social gathering place," Friends of the Library Board Member Jan Goldman said. "Its also a place or information. It's comfortable; it's warm; it's welcoming. It's pretty much a center, one of the center places here in Morro Bay where everybody seems to know everybody goes." Friends of the Library needs $20,000 more to reach their goal. They sold raffle tickets for prizes donated by local merchants at todays Home for the Holidays Morro Bay Street Faire. If all goes well, they hope to start the remodel in February.
