Fundraiser held for Grover Beach man injured in motorcycling accident

The Grover Beach community is coming together to help Doug Navolt. Doug was in a serious motorcycling accident last October. Doctors didn't think he would survive, but he did.

"Doug was in an accident and he's miraculously alive, so we're just trying to help them to survive this season until he gets better," said Rich Wilson, a close family friend.

Doug needs help walking, and his memory was seriously impacted in the accident. It could take over a year for him to recover.

On Saturday, a barbecue fundraiser was held at the Shouts of Grace Church in Grover Beach.

Funds raised at the event will help Doug's family pay for his medical care. Wilson says if anyone deserves the help, it's Doug and his family.

"They are just adored. They are loved and adored, and just cared for, and that's pretty much who these people are. Anybody knows them knows they're like best friends," said Wilson.

You can still donate to Doug and his family through the Shouts of Grace Church. For a link to their website, click here.
