Friends and loved ones have planned a fundraiser for the family of Neil Reed. The popular Pioneer Valley High coach and teacher passed away suddenly from heart complications on July 26. The 36 year old left behind a wife and two young daughters, ages 4 and 6.
They've scheduled a fundraiser from 10am-3pm on Sunday, September 23. It will take place at Pacific Flips in Grover Beach at 998 Huston Street. They will be offering 30 minute gymnastics classes from 10-12 and 1-3 for a suggested donation of $10 per person. There are classes for artistic, trampoline and preschool gymnastics or a cheer clinic.
The Coastal Dance and Music Academy, which is in the same complez, is offering a preschool dance class at 10-11 am, a class for kids ages 3-5 at 11am and a class for kids from 2-8 years of age from 2-3 pm.
A bake sale, silent auction, BBQ lunch, 50-50 raffle ticket sale and carnival will also take place. A "Fill the Golf Bag" donation station will also be set up that day.
Reed had been a physical education teacher at Pioneer Valley High School since 2007. He had coached boys basketball, as well as boys and girls golf and football. Neil was a high school and college basketball star. He played at Indiana University before transferring to Southern Mississippi, where he was a two-time Academic All-American.
A website has been set up on the efforts to help the Reed family in their time of need, to view click here.
