The Cal Poly women's volleyball team's struggles continued on Saturday. The Mustangs returned to Mott Gym for the first time in almost a month and lost 3-0 to rival UCSB in a Big West Conference match in front of 1,273 people.
UCSB won 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20 for its first conference win of the season. The Gauchos improved to 1-2 in Big West play and 8-9 overall.
Cal Poly dropped its 11th in a row and fell to 0-3 in conference and 1-14 overall.
UCSB outhit Cal Poly in all three sets and for the match. The Gauchos hit .202 overall. Katey Thompson led UCSB with 15 kills, while Leah Sully added 8 kills. Taylor Formico led UCSB with 14 digs.
Cal Poly hit .123 for the match. Chelsea Hardin and Holly Franks led the Mustangs with 9 kills apiece. The Mustangs had 3 players with 10 or more digs as Steffi Sooter had 10, Maddie Kuber had 11 and Megan McConnell tallied a team-high 12.
