UC Santa Barbara senior Sweets Underwood earned his fourth Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season on Monday. Underwood averaged a double-double in two crucial road victories last weekend that propelled the Gauchos into contention for the regular season title.
Underwood averaged 14.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots to lead the Gauchos past UC Davis and Pacific. She shot 48 percent from the field last week.
Sweets tallied her eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season. Underwood had 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 60-52 win against the Aggies. She also had 14 points and had a career-high 16 rebounds in a 52-47 win at first place Pacific.
UCSB is tied with Cal Poly and Hawaii in second place and one game back of Pacific.
The Gauchos host the Mustangs on Saturday at 2 p.m.
