Going green is a popular trend these days and one Central-Coast based company is at the center of it all.
REC Solar sells, builds and installs solar electric systems for homes and businesses.
It has more than 500 employees throughout the U.S. but its headquarters are in San Luis Obispo.
There are currently about 40 positions available, ranging from accounting to engineering.
Employees make anywhere from $40,000 to six figures a year depending on their job level.
Right now the company is primarily hiring engineers, accountants, sales people and installers, but there are other positions available.
A quick stop on the company Website will show you all of the positions available and walk you through the application process.
Once you apply online, phone and in-person interviews will follow.
The company does drug testing and background checks, and some labor positions also require a physical.
The company received more than 1200 applications last month.
REC Solar's CEO says applicants with a passion for solar energy, who do their homework, will set themselves apart.
"Try to make your application look a little bit different, show your enthusiasm, show why you think REC Solar is the perfect company for you," said CEO Angiolo Laviziano. "We expect some sort of candidate to really have done some research on the company, as well as the industry."
Some positions are entry level, others require about three to four years of previous experience.
Also if there is not a job that fits your particular experience level right now, people at REC say apply anyway.
They keep all of their resumes on file and have hired some employees six to eight months after they initially applied.
To give you an idea of just how fast the company is growing, it went from 30 employees in 2005 to more than 530 in 2009.
Governor Schwarzenegger even paid the company a visit earlier this year.
