The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department has a new tool to help save lives, thanks to a Goleta company.
FLIR Systems Inc. recently donated one of its infrared cameras to the Sheriff's Department Aviation Unit.
Sensors on the camera will help helicopter pilots search for people who are lost or missing, both during the day and at night.
The equipment usually sells for more than $100,000.
