Goleta DUI checkpoint to coincide with Floatopia party

According to the Goleta Police Department, officers will be conducting a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in the city on Saturday, April 10.

That's the same day as this year's Floatopia beach party, where Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies plan to be out in force.

The event started in 2004, and at its peak last year, attracted more than 12,000 people.

The Santa Barbara County Parks Department and UC Santa Barbara have ordered beaches accessible from Isla Vista closed this weekend. They say anyone who enters the beach will be cited or arrested.
