Got left over Halloween candy? A local dentist wants to send it troops overseas

It is dubbed the Great Candy Buy Back, a national program that a local dentist is getting in on.

Dr. Robert Flores of R&R Dental Care in San Luis Obispo will put his money where his mouth is Saturday, November 6 when from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. he will buy back Halloween candy at a dollar per pound.

"Ditch the candy, that's what we're saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost," said Dr. Flores. "Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well."

The sweet treats will then be sent to troops serving overseas as part of Operation Gratitude.

Dr. Flores' office is located at 878 Boysen Avenue.
