California is in financial trouble, but could the state's own governor have a bit of trouble too?
TMZ.com is reporting that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has an active lien for failure to pay tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes.
The website displayed documents that were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that show the governor owes the IRS more than $79,000.
The governor's press secretary issued this response:
"The governor has paid his taxes in full and on time. No one, including the IRS, has notified the governor of any issues whatsoever with his taxes. We are contacting the IRS to determine if the document in question, which appears to be a penalty for missing info and not for unpaid taxes, is legitimate and if there is any discrepancy to resolve."
