Our Good Question tonight is prompted by a "For Sale" sign on the Salvation Army church in Santa Maria. J. Smith from Santa Maria wants to know: "If the church is sold, what will happen to all the services provided." Good Question.
When the church on S. Miller is sold, services won't change because a new location has already been found. Right now, the church hosts bible study, college prep and other evening classes, hot meals, even guitar lessons.
The Salvation Army's other building on E. Fesler is also up for sale. It serves a thousand people a week, providing things like food, medications, eyeglasses, and rental assistance.
Last Wednesday, the Salvation Army bought three buildings on Cook Street, one of a former Presbyterian church. Over the next year, all services will be moved to the new location in phases. The new buildings provide 16-thousand square feet, which is twice as much as the old locations combined.
