If you've been to the Avila Beach Community Center or the post office you have noticed something unusual next to the building. It prompted tonight's Good Question.
Kim Roberts wants to know: What's the reason for the new circle at the Community Center in Avila? Good Question.
The circle is part of a landscaping project which modified a steep hillside that was a safety hazard for some people. A new stairway now connects the center to the street.
The project's goal is to create a peaceful healing garden with a wall, trees and shrubs. The heart of the garden is a Native American Medicine Wheel made of bricks outlined in metal.
The circle represents the rhythm of life and the four quadrants represent the elements, the seasons and the directions. According to tradition, the wheel has healing properties.
The public can buy a brick of the wheel and have a name engraved for posterity or remembrance. For more info contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to send your Good Question to me at facebook.com/JohnRegerKsbyNews. The only bad question is the one you don't ask.
