A 76-year-old grandmother from Atascadero spent some time in jail earlier this week stemming from a check she wrote this past March for $28.85.

Normally, a non-sufficient fund incident doesn't usually end up with people going to jail. However in this case, a missed court appearance to answer the initial charge, caused Patsy Spence to be booked into jail for a short time this past Tuesday.

Spence will have to pay a total of $78.85 to resolve the matter ($28.85 for the bad check and an additional $50.00 in other costs ) and has to be back in court Feb. 4th to show that it's been taken care of.

We'll have more on this story tonight on KSBY News at 6:00.
