ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Greek state TV says the country's new elections will be held on June 17, and a court official will be appointed to head the interim government until then.
State television said Wednesday that Council of State head Panagiotis Pikramenos will be appointed interim prime minister.
Communist Party leader Aleka Papariga said party leaders agreed that the interim government will not be able to make any internationally binding decisions. She made the comments at the end of a meeting of party leaders convened by President Karolos Papoulias.
A nine-day deadlock in coalition negotiations after inconclusive elections have forced Greece to new elections.
