MORRO BAY, Calif. - Few coaches got more out of their football teams this season than Morro Bay head coach Jack Greer, but after just two years at the helm, Greer has decided to resign.
Greer, despite numerous injuries, led his over-achieving Pirate team to a 7-4 record and a playoff appearance this past season. During Greer's two year tenure as Morro Bay head coach, the Pirates were 15-8.
Greer, who was a long time Morro Bay assistant prior to becoming head coach, tells KSBY that after 25 years of coaching at the varsity level, he simply needed a break.
Greer is the third area football coach to step down since the end of the 2013 season. San Luis Obispo head coach David Kelley resigned earlier this month, as did Cabrillo head coach Craig Knowles.
