MORRO BAY, Calif. - Just six months after stepping down as head football coach at Morro Bay High School, Jack Greer has decided to return to the position.
Greer, a long time Morro Bay assistant, led the Pirates to back-to-back CIF postseason appearances before resigning for personal reasons in December of last year.
An assistant to Greer took over as interim head coach as the school searched for a permanent replacement. A former Central Coast head coach was reportedly close to being hired for the vacancy, but a deal was never worked out.
With Summer quickly approaching and the team still without a new head coach, Greer decided to step in.
"I just thought that was unfair to the boys and the community," said Greer, "so I made a decision to come back and when I come out here it's almost like a resurgence of energy."
Greer admits the team is behind schedule as a result of the lengthy process.
Morro Bay will hold their annual Bash at the Beach 7-on-7 passing tournament on June 20th and June 21st.
