A group in Atascadero filed paperwork with San Luis Obispo Court Thursday over the development of a Walmart in Atascadero.
Save Atascadero is contesting the legality of the city's approval of the Walmart at Del Rio Road and El Camino Real.
In June, the City Council unanimously approved the Walmart. The plan is to build a 129,000 sq. foot store and shopping center which is expected to bring more than 300 jobs to the area. It is expected to open as early as 2014.
Save Atascadero is a local group led by local residents that opposes the Walmart.
