A Grover Beach man is facing an attempted murder charge after a shooting at a local motel last month that police are now calling a drug deal gone wrong.
James Heinrichs, 49, was arrested last Saturday, but the incident stems back to December 13 in Pismo Beach. At that time, police responded to the Motel 6 on reports of a shooting. But when officers arrived, they did not find any evidence of the reported shooting.
During the course of their investigation, police say they were led to Los Angeles where the victim's vehicle was found with a bullet hole in the windshield. Police say they served a search warrant and two arrest warrants to catch the suspect.
Police also say they were able to recover the weapon they believe was used in the December shooting.
