Local merchants are asking the Grover Beach City Council for help, saying recent construction has impacted business.
Three merchants spoke during public comment at Monday night's meeting.
They're not happy about the current road construction project on Grand Avenue, near Fourth Street and say they've lost large portions of their business. "Some of us are suffering hardships and can't even make our rent. Juanita's has lost 75 percent of her business, others have lost 20 percent like 7-11, and I've lost 80 percent," said Leticia Soria of Monarca Desserts.
However, some local residents are happy to see the repairs. "I'm glad they're fixing the roads that need to be repaired because it does cause a lot of damage to the vehicles. But it is an inconvenience," said San Luis Obispo County resident Leonore Vallesteros.
The City Council has not said whether it will address the issue at a future meeting.
