Grover Beach police arrest a man they say held a woman against her will and then kidnapped a child.

Officers were called to a home in the 400 block of South 13th Street around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

They say that's where 22-year-old Edgar Gonzalez-Gutierrez forced a woman to stay in a locked room.

The woman escaped, but Gonzalez-Gutierrez then chased her down in a car and tried to kidnap her again. He eventually left the area with a 4-year-old child.

Officers caught up with him about an hour later in Pismo Beach. The child was later found safe at a home in Grover Beach.

Gonzalez-Gutierrez was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic violence and child endangerment.
