A local park finally reopened Saturday after flooding forced it to close.

Flood waters caused major damage to the Guadalupe Dunes State Park and nearly wiped out the road leading to the dunes. On Saturday one lane reopened, and so did the beach. Visitors say it was inconvenient to travel to other parks and they are happy to see the dunes open again.

"This is the best," said Paul Marshall, who lives in Orcutt. "It's a 25-minute walk into Oso Flaco and it's an hour drive into Jalama so this is 15- minute drive out here, fish, drive home, this is great."

Guadalupe officials say the opening could be temporary, depending on the weather.
