The Republican candidate for Governor says he's preparing to ramp up his campaign.
Steve Poizner spoke to Republicans at the San Luis Obispo Country Club Wednesday night. He made it clear that his campaign centers on tax cuts.
Poizner and his opponent, Meg Whitman, have been at the center of controversy lately.
Just on Monday, Poizner accused Whitman's top adviser of trying to strong arm him out of the race with an e-mail. The Whitman camp responded by saying it worried about Poizner's mental condition.
However, Poizner said he is in the race for the long run. "Now she wants me out of the race, but that's not going to happen. We're going to have a competitive primary and so I had to expose that as politics as usual. It was wrong and I just had to get that out there to the media and the voters to take that into consideration when they are evaluating the two of us," said Poizner.
When asked about Whitman being ahead in the pollls, Poizner said it was because she had spent so much money on her campaign.
