Throwdown at the Showgrounds 3 was a big night for several local fighters.
It was "Heavy Hitters" night at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbra on Saturday.
Johnny Hackleman, out of San Luis Obispo, squared off with Sam Vargas from Arroyo Grande at 185 pounds.
Hackleman is the son of John Hackleman, who is Chuck Liddell's well-known trainer. The fight was over before most people took their seats after the introductions. Johnny won his Mixed Martial Arts debut by knockout after some damaging knees, and then he finished off Vargas with a few blows from above while Vargas was on the canvas. The ref stopped the fight after just 21 seconds.
One of his dad's fighter's out of The Pit, Michael Gahan, also from San Luis Obispo was victorious as well. Gahan was taking on a fighter out of Santa Maria and won by a knockout in round two.
