LOS ANGELES (AP) - A half-dozen stranded hikers have been rescued safely in Southern California mountain areas.
A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter hoisted a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman to safety early Monday after they got stranded in Malibu Creek State Park.
Slippery conditions due to recent rains made it too dangerous for ground crews to rescue the couple.
Hours earlier, four hikers stranded on Strawberry Peak Trail in the Angeles National Forest were hoisted to safety by a Fire Department helicopter.
The Montrose Search and Rescue found them late Sunday after one of the hikers used his cellphone to call the Sheriff's Department for help.
