Hancock baseball to dedicate new John Osborne Field on Saturday

Allan Hancock College will celebrate a new era of Bulldog baseball on Saturday with the dedication of the new John Osborne Field.

The legendary coach will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at 11:45 am. An alumni game is set to follow at noon.

The field is located across the street from the previous John Osborne Field and is next to the new softball facility. Head coach Chris Stevens designed the new field, which will help mitigate the Central Coast winds that plagued the old field. The new field features 44,000 square feet of sod.

Funding for the new field was made possible through Measure I.

Osborne was the manager when Hancock baseball won its first and only State title in 1972.
