Allan Hancock College star Cameron Artis-Payne has been named the Northern Conference's Offensive Player of the Year by the Southern California Football Association.
The sophomore running back leads the state with 2,048 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry for the Bulldogs. Hancock finished 5-5 overall and in fifth place in the Northern Conference at 2-4.
Artis-Payne has verbally committed to Auburn.
Five other Bulldogs earned All-conference Second Team honors.
Hancock center Tyler Mt. Joy, a 6 foot, 250 pound freshman, along with guard Andrew Chavoya were named to the Second Team Offense.
Defensive tackle Bryan Price, a 6-3, 310 pounder, was named to the Second Team Defense. Price had 61 tackles and 4 tackles for loss for the Bulldogs. Inside linebacker Bryan Alwohl and safety Mason Blow also earned Second Team honors. Alwhohl, a sophomore, led the Bulldogs with 99 tackles and 8 tackles for lost yardage. Blow, a Lompoc High graduate, finished with 58 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 pass breakups.
