Students at Hancock College will head to Sacramento on March 22nd. Around 52 students and staff will join thousands of college students on the Capitol to protest budget cuts to education.
Class sections have been reduced, part-time faculty laid off, and counselor hours and support services slashed. Allan Hancock College is facing more than $2 million dollars in budget cuts for the next year. They are already coping with $4.5 million cuts from the current school year and more reductions are likely. You'll hear directly from Hancock students and staff tonight on KSBY News at 5 and 6.

'Taxpayer' this trip is being funded by the student representation fee. It is a voluntary $1 that students pay, and can only be used for advocacy efforts, not student activities, or any other purpose, but for the sake of participation in shared governance. So to answer your question and concern - the students in fact, have paid for it on their own.
Also, when student fees are raised, you are not 'taxed' but students are. It is unfortunate, but true. Students completing their education makes them enabled to make more wages, and move up higher in the tax bracket, to become higher taxpayers.

I hope they are not wasting my money on this!! If they want to exercise their "Freedom of speech" they need to be commited enough to pay for it themselves.
