Freshman Mitch Haniger provided the clutch hit of the game on Wednesday. After his bases clearing double in the third inning, the Mustangs never looked back and beat Northern Illinois for the second straight night at Baggett Stadium 12-5.

Haniger cleared the bases with two outs in the third with the Mustangs up 4-3. The freshman, hitting out of the leadoff spot, finished with two hits and four RBI. Ross Brayton collected three hits and drove in two runs lifting his average to .412. Sophomore Matt Jensen added two hits and drove in a run. Cal Poly pounded out 12 hits in the win after collecting 20 on Tuesday evening.

DJ Mauldin went five strong innings giving up three runs and striking out six in his first start of the year. He earned the win for the Mustangs, who evened their record to 6-6.

Cal Poly welcomes in Houston on Friday for a three game weekend series. First pitch on Friday in Baggett Stadium will be at 6 pm.
