Mission Prep graduate Jordan Hasay automatically advanced into the women's 1,500 meter semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Thursday in Eugene, Oregon.
Running on her home track at Hayward Field, the University of Oregon junior finished fourth in her first round heat with a time of 4:16.06. The top six in each of the three heats automatically advanced to the semifinals, as did the next six fastest times.
Hasay is looking to repeat the magic of the 2008 Trials when she set the national high school record in the semifinals with a time of 4:14.50. The then-16 year old finished tenth in the final.
The field of 30 has been reduced to 24 and will be reduced to 12 after the semifinals.
The semis are set for Friday at 3:45 pm. Jordan's first round time ranks 13th-best among the 24 semifinalists. Morgan Uceny ran the top time of the day of 4:14.07.
The final is on Sunday.
