Jordan Hasay faded down the stretch in the women's 1,500 meters semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Friday in Eugene, Oregon.
The Mission Prep graduate finished eleventh in her heat with a time of 4:15.52 to end her 2012 Olympic run. The top five in each of the two semifinal heats automatically advanced to Sunday's final, along with the next two fastest times.
The University of Oregon junior finished 23rd out of the 24 semifinalists overall.
Morgan Uceny ran the fastest time of the day at 4:08.90, followed by Jenny Simpson at 4:09.12. The twelfth and final woman to qualify for the final was Brenda Martinez with a time of 4:10.73, which means Hasay fell short of qualifying by 4.79 seconds.
Hasay was in third place headed into the final lap when her competitors really picked up the pace. Hasay could not keep up.
The 20 year old was hoping to relive the magic of the 2008 Trials when she set the national high school record in the 1,500 semifinals and finished 10th in the finals as a 16 year old.
