Jordan Hasay qualified for the World Championships in the 10,000 meters with a personal best time at the Roughrider Twighlight Meet at Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon. The former University of Oregon and Mission Prep star clocked a time of 30:46 to accomplish the "B" standard in the event, missing the "A" standard by one second. Hasay's previous best in the 10,000m was 31:06.
The recently turned professional and member of Nike's Oregon Project team, Hasay finished second at the US Championships last month but didn't reach the qualifying time. Now she has the qualifying time in hand and can compete at the World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Worlds start on August 10 and end on August 18.
Hasay is 21 years old, this is her first time qualifying for the World Championships.
