A group of volunteers wants your help to give women on the Central Coast battling cancer reasons for hope.
Hats for Hope is holding a fundraiser this Sunday in San Luis Obispo. It marks the first time in the non-profit's ten year history that it is holding its largest fundraiser north of Nipomo.
Dozens of items like art work from local artists, golf clubs, a John Deere tricycle, wine, estate planning and weekend getaways will be auctioned off.
All of the proceeds go to the local non-profit, which is run by ten women, that serves hundreds of women each year from Santa Ynez to Paso Robles.
Hats for Hope pays for women, who are undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments, to receive custom wigs and head coverings. Local oncologists distribute Hats for Hope gift certificates to patients undergoing treatment.
"One person that is able to go about life in a very normal way with dignity because they have received our wig, that's what it is all about," said co-founder Jeannie Miranda, who is a three-time melanoma survivor.
The Hats for Hope Community Hat Party and Auction is this Sunday, September 16 from 1-4 pm at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The event includes music, appetizers, drinks, as well as live and silent auctions. Tickets are $45. For more information call 805-489-4161 or click here.
KSBY Sports Director Andrew Masuda will emcee the event.
