Head-on crash causes pile-up, delays for an hour Saturday night

Traffic backed up for at least an hour on Saturday night on Highway 101, because of a head-on crash.

It happened just after 9:30 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway, just south of the Grand Avenue off-ramp.

Witnesses said a driver entered the 101 going the wrong way and crashed into a car head-on, causing a pile-up. At least three cars had significant damage.

The crash blocked both of the northbound lanes, bringing traffic to a stand-still for at least an hour. Officers on scene were able to clear one lane of traffic by about 10:30 p.m., and divert some of the other traffic to a detour off of the highway.

Two people were sent to the hospital. Other passengers and victims were evaluated and released at the scene.
