The release of a third doctor's reports on the mental health of an Atascadero man accused in a double murder is delayed.
20-year-old Andrew Downs was expected in a San Luis Obispo court Thursday morning, to find out a third doctor's take on his mental status. Two doctors were appointed at the end of December to determine whether Downs is mentally fit to stand trial for the alleged murders, but the doctors split on their findings. A third doctor was then appointed.
Downs is accused in the killings of Kathy Yeager and Beverly Reilly in Santa Margarita on Christmas Day 2010.
According to police reports, Downs told officers that he suffers from schizophrenia.
