Americans' heart health differs greatly from state to state.
Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention used telephone surveys to assess the cardiovascular health of people in all 50 states.
Only about 3% of Americans had ideal heart health, while 10% were considered to have poor cardiovascular health.
The percentage of the population with ideal heart health was lowest in Oklahoma, West Virginia and Mississippi.
It was highest in Washington, D.C., Vermont, and Virginia.
