A high surf advisory has been issued for the Central Coast until 7 am PST Thursday.
West and northwest facing beaches of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties are in the advisory area.
Surf will build to 10 to 12 feet through early Wednesday morning.
Local sets to 15 feet are possible along favroable northwest facing beaches.
Dangerous rip currents will affect beaches in the advisory area posing a threat to swimmers. High surf conditions can cause sneaker waves that suddenly inundate beaches and wash over jetties.
