Highway 101 just north of Patterson Avenue in Goleta was shut down for about 35 minutes on Wednesday, while Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies chased a man who they say threatened officers with a knife.
At around 1:30 pm, Sheriff's officials say a man called dispatchers from a business on Calle Real, made threatening comments and hung up. When a deputy responded to the area, they say the man held out a knife and talked about hurting officers. He then walked across Highway 101.
Deputies fired bean bags at the man and used a stun gun in order to take him into custody. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out and will be booked into County Jail.
