Highway 101 South in Goleta closed after deadly crash

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Goleta are closed after a vehicle accident that killed one person.

The accident happened Tuesday around 10:12 a.m. on Highway 101 South near Dos Pueblos Canyon.

Fire officials say a flatbed truck heading north on Highway 101 crossed the center divider and hit a pickup truck heading south.

They say one person in the pickup truck died at the scene and another was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the flatbed truck was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

As of 11:36 a.m., Highway 101 remained closed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
