The California Highway Patrol has reopened both lanes of Highway 101 southbound at Wellsona Road, north of Paso Robles, after a major injury traffic accident.

A pick-up truck and another vehicle collided with a big rig, which jackknifed and blocked both southbound lanes of Highway 101 around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Emergency crews at the scene said the driver of the truck was initially trapped and unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

The CHP believes poor visibility due to heavy fog may have been a factor in the accident. Investigators have not yet determined which party is at fault.
