Hit and run suspect identified as son of local strawberry farmer

New information in this month's fatal hit and run that killed a homeless man in Nipomo. We hit the streets today to search for more answers.

Sources close to the investigation told KSBY News one of the persons of interest is the 23-year-old son of a prominent Central Coast strawberry farmer.

We have tried contacting his family for comment in the last couple days, but have not heard back. Thursday, we knocked on the door of the house where the family lives. No one answered.

Sources tell us the 23-year-old was spotted at an Orcutt bar the night of the hit and run.

Fabian Alexander, 46, was killed May 13 while walking across the offramp of Highway 101 North at the 166 East exit in Nipomo.

Witnesses reported seeing a blue chevy corvette at the time, and a day later, officers found a corvette burning in rural Santa Maria.

The CHP had previously identified persons of interest in the case and the VIN on the burned-out Corvette. Investigators plans to release more information, including the names of the persons of interest, later this week.
