The San Luis Obispo California Highway Patrol Office is on the hunt for a driver who hit and killed a 24-year old man. They said the traffic collision happened on North Thompson Avenue, south of Willow Road, sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.
The San Luis Obispo County Coroner's Office identified the victim on Tuesday, as Christopher C. Tietjen, of Nipomo. In 2010, Tietjen was arrested after being accused of acting suspiciously around children at a playground in Nipomo.
Friends and loved ones of Tietjen poured out heartfelt memories over Facebook on Tuesday night.
Gary Mendoza posted on the KSBY Facebook page that Tietjen was a "good guy". Mendoza told KSBY over the phone that he was Tietjen's case worker through the local non-profit organization NCI Affiliates/Achievement House Inc. He said Tietjen was mentally disabled, and he saw him at least four times a week. He also said he had just seen Tietjen on Saturday, and he was looking forward to the holidays.
The CHP is looking for a 2004-2009 mint green Toyota Prius with major front end damage. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the CHP at (805)593-3333.
