Folks had a cool reason to donate blood Monday afternoon in the Village of Arroyo Grande.
The United Blood Services and Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab teamed up for a holiday twist on the "Give a Pint-Get a Pint" blood drive.
Everyone who donated blood Monday received a free quart of Doc Burnstein's hand-mixed egg nog.
"Once we got into the mode and they're so gracious and wonderful and you just feel like you're doing something for somebody else," said Janet Lawhon, a blood donor.
Organizers say donations are especially needed this time of year, as they typically drop off in December and the need for blood increases during the holidays.
The event ran from 1pm to 6pm.
